Year 4 / Year 5
Welcome to the Year 4/5 class pages. Our teacher is Mrs McFarlane and we are helped by teaching assistants Mrs Oldham and Miss Woods. Ms Robinson teaches Science every Thursday afternoon. Mrs Cummings (Volunteer) helps with guided reading on a Monday morning and Mrs Bailey (volunteer) currently helps out in our classroom every Thursday afternoon.
Our morning activities mainly focus on English, Maths with R.E. and P.E. Our afternoons are different each day:
Monday: Topic, Spelling and Handwriting activities, Library skills and exchange
Tuesday: Computing and PSHE
Wednesday: Outdoor PE and Music / French
Topic includes blocked sessions for History / Geography / Art / D.T.
We also have a morning run every day!
Sometimes our activities vary to accommodate special events.
Please see Year 4/5's long term plans below. This year we are following cycle A.
Instead of the Home School Link book, the children in Year 4/5 have a Homework Diary. The homework for the week, PE sessions and additional activities are written in to the diaries every Monday morning so please check your child's diary and sign at the end of each week.
There is also a space on each page in case you have any questions or messages. You can also speak to Mrs McFarlane or Mrs Oldham before or after school if you have a quick query or need to make an appointment if you need a longer chat.
Home reading books can be changed on any day of the week. Please sign your child's reading record every time they read at home, whether it is to an adult, sibling or independently.
If your child has long hair please send them to school with it tied back.
Please see our class news page for any news and pictures of events and activities in class.
